you'll love you the most
you don’t miss the past, you crave a chance
to access your history and tell yourself
the world will continue to rock patiently on its axis
regardless of the pace of the imprints you make
and there will be a better alignment,
a configuration that favours you and
the efforts that you betrayed the
imposter inside your chest to chase
what’s the cost to vault River Time
to hold yourself in your arms
and say “the future brings these tears to drought
and blessings seal the way your heart breaks”
grief is too high a price, when the message is almost
clear through the mist. you don’t miss the past
you just want to promise an adolescent-shelled ghost
(with your reflection): tomorrow’s tomorrow, you will be saved
and you’ll love you the most
